The hall was built about the end of the 19th century but it was not until 1971, when the land around it was being developed for building, that it was purchased by a group of local Christians and became known as Bethany Gospel Hall ("gospel" simply means "good news" and is used in the Bible as the title of the books that tell us about the life and death of the Lord Jesus). We do not belong to a denomination and we are self-governing, relying only on the teachings of the Bible.

Our Message

We believe that God's forgiveness for our sins and a place in Heaven are freely available to all who accept the message of the Bible: that God loved us so much that He sent His son, the Lord Jesus Christ into the world to die for us and rise again and that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.

Do you believe in God?

Most people do, so why do so many carry on as though He did not exist?

Perhaps they are so busy with their lives, jobs and relationships that they never find time to attend church or even to think about their relationship with God and just put it off, convincing themselves that it will do no harm to wait until a more convenient time. Don't be fooled by this. None of us can guarantee how long we have in this world and we need to sort ourselves out with God while we are still here.

Are you good enough?

Or maybe they do not feel good enough to go to church, forgetting that when Jesus was living in the world it was the religious people who despised Him because they saw Him as the "friend of sinners". He still is and wants us all to accept Him as our friend and saviour. Only He can deal with our sins and make us fit for the presence of God. If we wait until we are good enough we will never come - the only way to God is through the Lord Jesus.

Whatever your reasons might be, remember that Jesus died and rose again so that we could have abundant life, the sort you've always dreamed of, joy in our hearts and peace with God. Come and hear more. It could be the most important thing you ever do.
